Town Hall 8 - Farming

Town Hall 8! Getting closer to that final goal. There's not a lot of additional things here but you finally have access to Golems and Valkyries. Those are some pretty strong dark troops. You also get your Dark Elixer Drill. Yay! No more being forced to farm for Dark Elixer...well mostly.

Below are several charts on the available buildings at Town Hall 8. They show some very valuable information. Please always double check the wiki to make sure these values are up-to-date. The graphic I use to represent each building in my layout is also shown on the far right.

Layout / Base Perimeter
DISCLAIMER: This base has not been tested by any of the Shucked clan members.

This is another base that I found while googling Town Hall 8 for ideas. I've made some minor adjustments but it's mostly the same. This base looks very well designed and was where my pre-designing was leading me anyway, I just hadn't figured it out yet. One of the things I really like about this base are the triangular patterns in the Mortars, Air Defense, and Wizard Towers. Each one is covering the other in a weave-like pattern.  I also like the extra layer of walls in front of the Air Defense.

Note: By now you should be have made it to 1250 trophies. If not you should push to get your third/fourth builder. I have four shown here because that's what I had during this stage of the game. If you still only have two you can remove the two closest to the Town Hall and move Builder's Huts closest to the Barracks over two spaces. This will still keep your perimeter in place.

Trap Placement
Once again we have a loooong Funneling Channel at the bottom of the base.  I have really come to like these designs. So many Giants get sprung into the atmosphere by those Spring Traps. And it happens ALL the time. Your more powerful Seeking Air Mines are right next to the Air Defense to take out any unsuspecting Dragons or Healers. The only thing about this base that I don't particularly like is there's not a lot of room for Giant Bombs so placement of these are probably not the in the most strategic areas.

Mortar Coverage
The triangular orientation of the Mortars give almost complete coverage of the whole base. I'm not entirely sold on where the bottom one is located and will probably be playing with switching it and the Archer Tower in the very middle of the base. This is because there is a small area in the Funneling Channel that isn't covered. However, if I move the Mortar to the middle there will be no coverage outside the walls on the bottom.

Wizard Tower Coverage
The Wizard Towers provide coverage for every mortar as well as coverage for the Air Defense and Storages. The bottom two Air Defenses could be covered a little better but for all intents and purposes they are very well placed. I like that they're behind two sets of walls as well, that way their splash damage will do more damage.

Cannon Coverage
Now this is a bit different from how I normally design bases. The Cannons are centered more on the diagonal rather than circling the base. For this base, though, I think it works. This is because they are filling in the weaknesses of the Archer Tower coverage. The trio near the bottom of the base will be particularly brutal to troops stuck in the Funneling Channel.

Archer Tower Coverage
The Archer Towers better circulate the base but leave a little open down the diagonal, which we discussed previously. I also like how the fifth Archer Tower was placed in the center compartment to add extra protection on your most important buildings.

Air Defense Coverage
The Air Defense covers the base rather well. The two on the bottom are protected by a double layer of walls and the one in the middle should be able to take out any flying stragglers.

Clan Castle Reinforcements / Hero Defense
The Clan Castle is very well placed in the center of the base. This is good design and should protect your base. The Barbarian King isn't as near the center as I would like but this is a tight base design and sometimes he's one of the last ones to be placed.  Sacrifices have to be made and the Barbarian King tends to be more of a distraction than a more significant help.
