At last! Dragons, Heroes, and Dark Elixer. Town Hall 7 begins to get increasingly more difficult, though not too bad. During this level you'll find that less people are neglecting their bases and good loot becomes harder to find. Since you won't have a Dark Elixer drill getting the Barbarian King will take quite a while. That said, once you start upgrading your defenses you should be able to get into the Gold League quite easily and comfortably.

This is a base I designed shortly after Clan Wars started because I was tired of going back and forth between my farming base and one that protected my Town Hall. As I said in the Town Hall 7 - Trophy Hunting layout page, I feel that this base is far superior in how well it protects the core, or middle of the base. One of the design elements I had in mind for the creation of this base was the ability to switch between different types of layouts quickly.
One thing to note about Clan War bases is that Storages are insignificant other than the fact that they count towards the 50% star. That's also why I've placed more buildings inside the walls than usual. This keeps your defenses hitting troops longer while they attack walls and decreases building destruction.

These are the two other variants for this base. Though it says Farming Variant this is actually a Dark Elixer Farming Variant. At the time I made this base I was heavily farming Dark Elixer to max my Barbarian King to level 5 at Town Hall 7. This works fairly well for that, however, your other Storages may suffer losses. I like this base because you will typically get a free shield before a high level Town Hall 9 or 10 steals your Dark Elixer. You will have to be fairly active with this though as your trophies will drop fairly regularly and you will need to keep them high for farming.
Trap Placement
This is the second variant that keeps the same basic functionality but protects your Town Hall and Dark Elixer. Personally, I prefer the Dark Elixer Farming variant above as you have to be fairly high in trophies to farm Dark Elixer and level 5/6 troops can wreck any well designed Town Hall 7 base pretty easily.
Trap Placement
The main idea here is to protect the core of the base. In Clan Wars you want the enemy getting as little stars as possible. By focusing bombs near the middle you might just take out their last wave of attack saving an extra two stars!
There is an extra long Funneling Channel in the bottom to keep Giants distracted and flying before entering the core.

Mortar Coverage
The idea here is to cover the important pieces of the base, keep the core under complete splash damage. The bottom shouldn't be a concern as the Funneling Channel should force troops to the splash damage areas.
Wizard Tower Coverage
The Wizard Towers are placed to cover the Town Hall, Mortars and each other. We're not worried as much about Resources on this base.
Cannon Coverage
Cannons are fairly spread evenly throughout this base. There's not much else to say really, this one is pretty straight forward.
Archer Tower Coverage
Since there is so much splash damage neat the top of the base I've filled in the gap at the bottom with overlaying the Archer Tower coverage. The long distance actually works fairly well at taking out troops distracted by the Funneling Channel.
Air Defense Coverage
Protect the core! The Air Defense is as central to the base as I could get. The last thing you want is a Dragon raid getting an easy three stars in Clan Wars. Bases that have Air Defense on the edges can be taken handily in a Clan War.
Clan Castle Reinforcements / Hero Defense
One of the best designs of Clan Wars is that your Clan Castle troops stay in the castle for every attack against you on Battle Day. For this reason alone I've made sure that it is also placed within the core of the base. Make sure to fill this with the best troops as their defense will help you win significantly.

ReplyDeleteSwitched the left wiz tower with the bottom air defense. Took 2 bombs from each tesla and put them with the big bombs for a bigger punch when giants funnel though there. Its worked great, except for when i got attacked with 10 dragons.
